Okay, so I don't even know how I started on this search, but I've been reading about the faults and flaws of the Disney Corporation a little here. Many people are saying that good ol' Walt was a pervert and child molestor, that 'he' put the word 'sex' into Lion King, that he was responsible for the 'boner' in Little Mermaid and many other things (of course, those throwing around the accusations didn't think about the fact that he died in '66).
Um anyway. Walt Disney is my hero, he was a great man of vision and perseverance, talent and passion. I almost don't want to know the truth on this one because I value him so highly (of course, he was human... he was said to be very perfectionistic and intense... but you can't not be when you're trying to run a park as fabulous as Disneyland). Not that any of you would know any more than the rest of us, but ugh PLEASE! I know the Disney Corporation is in the toilet at the moment but... SAY IT AINT SO!

This depresses me to no end.

ya theres a lot of stuff like that and im pretty sure the whole "SEX" in lion king was debunked as a nod to the "SFX" department of Disney. Theres was also two frames in the Rescuers that had a topless woman in them. thats confirmed. but ya disneys been dead. i swear if anyone says hes cryogenically frozen. ugh!

I guess people just need some icon to bash sometimes.
Pretty much when I first heard the rumors, this was me: :faint:

Alas... I've been chastised for being a Disney fan. I keep saying, "I'm gonna work for Disney someday!" and people are like, "DISNEY IS EVIL. FAAA." And yes, the corporation itself is... well, a corporation. Most evil. But the work itself they produced... well, the classics, anyway... are quite beautiful. Even if some of the earlier ones were a bit racist/sexist.

A lot of people I know have a love/hate relationship with Disney. Personally, I dislike the corporation and the shameless commercialized merchandise they come out with, and I also don't like how they flip out over their copyrights so much and how they sue anyone who even mentions their characters without permission or royalties. But I am very fond of (most of) the work they produce. Except, you know. A lot of the 3D stuff. And all the made-for-DVD sequels.

Have you seen "Mickey Mouse Monopoly"? It's an anti-Disney documentary that's actually quite interesting. I certainly don't agree with everything they say, but it is an intriguing watch.

Yeah I've been slowly loosing my respect for Disney for a long time now. How they treated Pixar how they treat their animators, how they pump out teenage "divas" who grow up to be sleezey ho bags once they reach 18. Can we please just go back to the good old days of the Little Mermaid Penis instead of this shallow brain dead Hannah Montana shows with the laugh machine mixed extra loud to mask how unoriginal and unfunny the show actually is.

P.S. I would rather see a fluffy mullet on the head of Billy Ray Cyrus then the mid life crisis emo hair he is packing now.

P.S.S. Can you tell I'm a disenchanted by all this crap?

LOL!
Sure, Walt Disney had his flaws, but he wasn't corrupted. Hell, if Roy Disney got the corporation, it wouldn't be the money-grubbing, evil empire it is while beign run by that decrepit apple-doll Micheal Eisner. But, alas, Eisner shall rule the Disney world with an iron, greedy fist until he is finally slain by the TRUE immortal, Roy.

Kind of like Highlander... yeaah... Highlander.

:skullbones: Heaven's a bore and way to far
So take me down where the wild things are :skullbones:
Eh, there have been times when people do berate me for being a Disney fan. IMO, while these accusations (just a fair few) may be true, I still believe in the whole childhood spirit it portrays in their films.

People nowadays tend to see the bad side to everything, and while we should see both sides to everything, these people aren't really looking at the good stuff either. That's just hypocritical.

For me, I'll love Disney forever for the great movies he's made and because he's the reason why cartoons just aren't a silly childhood thing, but a passionate art :)

Funny you post this, I just read that Slate article on visiting Disneyworld for 5 days alone. The author was kind of a douche.

My grandma's a big anti-Disney fanatic and doesn't understand how an Artist like me (heh) can like such tripe. Disney's pretty much what put me on the art track today, and I still enjoy it.

Ah yes. The infamous Eisner.

He's the one you should be blaming, really.

Walt Disney was a man, like any other. He had faults, the most notable was his chain smoking. He was not a Nazi, he didn't hate Jews, he didn't molest children. He had integrity and a knack for knowing what the public wanted, and delivering it. He built his empire from the ground up. When he came to L.A. with his brother and Ub Iwerks he had already lost his first studio and lost the rights to his first big hit. He had, literally, $40 to his name. He took Walt Disney Studios from nothing, to one of the largest companies in the world. He was a dreamer and a visionary. He created the multiplane camera, andthought up Audio-Animatronics. He constantly pushed the boundaries of what is possible in entertainment. He put up his own money to build Disneyland, and everyone told him it would fail. He never let that stop him, and I am very glad he didn't.
